Carlos Aguilar
Carlos was born in El Paso, Texas. He received his BFA at Western
New Mexico University in Silver City, NM
My art is about exploration and observation. My style and subjects are constantly evolving. I may plan to paint a certain subject and then change my mind at the last minute. It’s a process that works for me. My subjects and choice of medium is dependent upon what I am experiencing at the moment. If I feel that what I want to express works in a certain medium, that’s what I’ll use. I refuse to be labeled as a realist because it is only a process, a journey. Who knows, in a matter of time, I may be labeled something else. I feel that my art is many things to different people. I don’t ever want to be labeled as any one kind of artist, I want to be known as an ever-evolving artist whose art continues to touch and affect long after it’s created. |

Jason Gresham
Jason a Louisiana artist is showing both paintings and sculptures.
"My work is a product of an inner struggle. Thisbattle within has merged the futuristic approach ofBoccioni and the modernist aspects of Moore to createpure, aesthetic forms. Every sculpture is the result of my never-tiring search for the perfect form. It is something that may never be achieved; until then, thatis what I do what I do." - Jason Gresham
"All art should have a certain mystery and should make demands on the spectator. Giving a sculpture or a drawing too explicit a title takes away part of that mystery so that the spectator moves on to the next object, making no effort to ponder the meaning of whathe has just seen. Everyone thinks that he or she looks but they don't really, you know."
- Henry Moore |

Brent Flenniken
Brent Flenniken spent his early years in the Southwest United States and was strongly influenced by its images of abundant light and vast space. He received a degree in art from Texas Tech University where well-known watercolor painter, Clarence Kincaid, Jr., became his teacher and lifetime mentor.
Flenniken most often paints highly creative and colorful landscapes, carousels or carnival scenes, watercolor portraits, florals and abstract compositions. His most recent work has been strongly influenced by his experiences in Mexico and New Mexico.
According to art historian and critic, Hunter Ingalls, Ph.D.: For all their impulsiveness, Flenniken's works are very deftly composed. The singing quality of his color doesn't wear off; it holds and grows when you've got one of his works in your home, hanging there as a reminder that life is for celebrating.
Flenniken's work has been exhibited widely in U.S. galleries and is included in collections in the U.S. and Mexico. He currently resides in Silver City, New Mexico, where he teaches drawing and watercolor painting. |

Reva Myers Shemanski
Artist's Statement: My paintings are about the way light illuminates the life within. Whether it be a human form, a flower, or a stone, the way the light falls upon my subjects shows the path taken to get to this point, the growth and weathering of a thousand experiences. On this map of a journey I can see the handwriting of a learge order of existence and this map is what I render in color, light and shadow. My eyesight is quite limited and I tend to focus on small details that others prehaps overlook. On this microcosmic level, I find it interesting that the shapes that make up any subject are the same.
Although I do take and refer to photographs to achieve the level of realism I desire to paint, I do not project the photographs in any way onto the canvas. these images are my interpretation of what I see.

Victoria West
My great grandmother knew exactly what to do with a talkative, never-sit-still 3 year old she put a paintbrush in her hand. And thus the journey began.
Originally from NJ, West has been creating art in Silver City since 1988. Watercolor, layered for depth and detail is her chosen medium.
In 2004, her grandson was diagnosed with autism. Food and handmade objects were always the subjects that appealed the most, representing the safety we
seek in our lives. On this journey, I’ve learned how badly things can go wrong when Sacredness of Self is compromised. Art and life have melded together
and become more significantly representative of a thread that runs through us all in black and white pottery of the Anasazi or in scenes of modern day, the
gifting and receiving of nourishment and the details representing personal identity, we are part of a greater whole. A magnifying glass on objects that
pass through our hands on our common journey is how I would like my work to tell that greater Story.
Throughout the country and overseas, West is honored to have her work be part of the Story for others as well. |
